The son of a career naval officer, Mark Irwin has lived and worked all over the world, including time spent as a ship salvager in Southeast Texas. His debut novel, The Last of the Good Guys, is based on those experiences.

A retired teacher, Irwin lives with his wife and two children in a small Ontario town.
